Susan G. Komen Michigan was formed on January14th of 2015 through the collaboration of three, independent Komenaffiliates: Komen Southwest Michigan, Komen Mid-Michigan and KomenWest Michigan. This collaboration began when the West Michiganaffiliate and Southwest affiliate shared personnel to manageadministration of both offices. After working together for months,the staff and boards of directors realized that an even greaterimpact could be felt by widening the partnership to include theMid-Michigan affiliate. The three organizations then determinedthat by joining forces while keeping local offices, outreach andraces, greater savings and efficiency could be recognized,maximizing the impact on the fight against breast cancer.Komen Michigan is an independent, local non-profit organizationthat is dedicated to combating breast cancer. Seventy-five percentof the organization’s net proceeds go towards programs and fundinggrants to local hospitals and community organizations that providebreast health education, screenings, diagnostics and survivorshipprograms for under-served men and women in Michigan. Theorganization supports three distinct service areas:West Michigan: Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Newaygo and Montcalmcounties.Southwest Michigan: Allegan, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass,Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties.Mid-Michigan: Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston,Shiawassee and Washtenaw counties.The remaining 25% funds global, leading-edge research focused onthe prevention of, and cures for, breast cancer.Komen Michigan’s mission is to save lives and end breast cancerforever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all, andenergizing science to find the cures.· Get Race and Ride for the Cure details· Take selfies· Volunteer· Donate

The Michigan Farmers Market Association(MIFMA) was started in 2006 as a statewide association to promotelocal food consumption in Michigan by connecting more farmers toconsumers through farmers markets. Today, MIFMA works with itsmembership to maintain its mission and attain its vision.Mission: MIFMA advances farmers markets to create a thrivingmarketplace for local food and farm products.Vision: MIFMA places farmers markets at the forefront of the localfood movement and works to ensure all residents have access tohealthy, locally grown food and that Michigan farmers marketsreceive policy support.MIFMA defines a farmers market as a public and recurring assemblyof farmers or their representatives selling direct-to-consumer foodand products which they have produced themselves. In addition, themarket may include a variety of vendors as determined by marketmanagement. A farmers market is organized for the purpose offacilitating personal connections that create mutual benefits forlocal farmers, vendors, shoppers and communities.
